I need advice for where my niece should go and what course to take in the Uni.
Her "A" level results as follows:

H2 maths - B
H2 Chemistry - B
H1 Chinese - B

GP - D
Econ - D
Physics - D
Project Work - A

Can someone advise if she will be able to enter NTU/NUS and if so which course easier to get in ?
Thanks in advance.

Im assuming that your "H1" Chinese is actually H2, then below are some of the possible courses. Assume that she has BBB/D, she can try for number of courses. If Chinese is really H1 and Physics (or Econs) is H2, then tough luck getting a place. You will have to assume that her grades are BCC/D.

There are other courses that she made the grade for (e.g. Econs, Psychology. Communication Studies etc) but will be rejected because of her GP grade.

Possible NUS Courses
Nursing BCC/B
Architecture, Industrial Desgin, Project & facilities, Real Estate BBB/C
Engineering BBB/C
Civil Engineering BBB/B
Electrical Engineering BBC/B
Engineering Science BBB/B
Computing(Com Sci/Info Systems) BBB/B
Computer Engineer BBB/C
Arts & Social Sciences (MT Related) BBB/C

For NTU courses
Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical & electronic Engineering, Engineering, Materials Engineering BCC/B
Information Engineering & Media BBC/B
Mechanical Engineering BCC/C
Biological Sciences BBC/B
Chemistry & Biological Sciences BBB/B
Mathematical Sciences BBB/C
Physics & Applied Physics BCC/C
Art, Design & Media CCC/C
Chinese CCC/B
Sport Science & Management BBB/C

For SMU Courses
Bs Information Systems Management BCC/B
Bs Social Science BBB/C

NIE - Both possible
Bs Education
Ba Education

Have you discuss with your niece on what she wants to do after her U ? Shouldn't she be choosing the programme(s) which is relevant to what she plans to do in the future?

People here can give more advice if you are able to provide more info.

How should A-level graduates interpret the information indicated in Table 1?

Table 1 shows the indicative grade profiles of A-level graduates who were offered admission in Academic Year (AY) 2011/2012. The grades indicated at the 10th and 90th percentiles are for the three H2 and one H1 content-based subjects, in that order. The grade profiles assumed the grade C for General Paper and Project Work. This can be best explained by using an example. For example, if the 10th percentile grade profile is ABC/A (3H2, 1H1), it means that 10% of the applicants offered places score below ABC/A. If the 90th percentile grade is AAA/B, it means 10% of the successful applicants score above AAA/B.

Are similar statistics (10th/90th percentile admissions) available for NTU?
