H2 Physics and Math Discussion

Is there life after O/A-Levels? Definitely! How well a person does in tertiary education is correlated with job opportunities open to the person. Discuss issues pertaining to nstitutes of higher learning here.

H2 Physics and Math Discussion

Hi guys, feel free to post any question on Physics and Math here. I'll try my best to help you answer the questions. Many students were caught off guard by the Mathematical Induction problem in the 'A' level exam last year. I hope it wil not happan again. P.S. I am not a full time tutor, just an engineer who is using stochastic process in my daily work and love to solve Math/Physics questions (I am more into Math than Physics)

i) probability that no camera is defective = (1-0.05)^20 = 0.3585
ii) probability that at most 2 cameras are defective = P(X=0)+P(X=1)+P(X=2) = 0.3585 + 20(0.05)(0.95)^19 + 20C2(0.05)^2(0.95)^18 = 0.3585 + 0.3774 + 0.1887 = 0.9246
iii) mean is 20*0.05 = 1; standard deviation is sqrt(np(1-p) )= 0.975

i) probability that exactly 12 cups of coffee were sold in 2 hours.
Average in 2 hours is 20 cups. Hence, P(X=12) = 0.01763

ii) probability that in an hour more than 3 cups of coffee are sold.
= 1- P(Y=0) - P(Y=1) - P(Y=2) - P(Y=3) = 0.01034

Feel free to PM me if you need any assistance :-)

Received too many email queries. I have decided to remove my info and contact :-). If you are a part time/full time tutor, please try to solve your own questions. My aim is to assist students (or parents whose kids are taking H2 Math)
