My DD wants to be a vet and she wants to find out more info on the study path. Some info that we gathered so far
1) Need to further studies in Aus or UK for the degree, which will take 5-6 years. Vet science degree is not available in SG.
2) Need to take triple science
3) Need to have excellent grades

We were told that she needs to take triple Science but unfortunately, she opted for only double science (Bio/Chem) in Sec 3. Would this affect her chance of progressing in the study path?

I am currently reading up more info at
http://www.sva.org.sg/page.asp?maincati ... 1&_Careers

Any feedback and advice would be much appreciated.

You can check out the Diploma in Veterinary Technology from Temasek Polytechnic >>
http://www-as.tp.edu.sg/asc_home/asc_co ... es_vet.htm

Look under "Further Education" on where you can go after the diploma course.

I don't think you need Physics to do Vet Course, especially when nowsdays not many JCs offer Triple Sciences to the students.

Trip science is not compulsory. My school hosted career talks before and I went for the vet one. Singapore difficult to practice vet science - the only ways according to the speaker is A) funded by your own parents to go overseas to study it B) get a scholarship from the singapore government but apparently this comes with a bond and end up you will be doing a lot of admin vet work such as checking whether the meat imported into singapore is safe, will be several years before bond expire and you can do real clinical work. By then possible could have forgotten whatever you studied. C) overseas scholarship and practice in that country.

If you are interested I think most schools host career talks for their students at sec 3/4. Also after the talk I was rather discouraged from trying for vet science because the vet who spoke made us realize that being a vet is not all about handling cute animals, need to have the stomach to do surgery for the animals, clean out maggot infested wounds etc.... And the working hours aren't the usual office job type.
