Hwa Chong or Raffles? Please advice!

Postby equink » Sun Jan 13, 2013 7:07 pm

Hi,I received my o level results on thurs and I'm left with one day before I submit my JAE form. I'm deciding between raffles or hwa chong, having deliberating for a really long time whether or not I wld be able to fit in and manage. I'm from a neighbourhod schl but I've worked rlly hard for my o level results. The thing is, I live in bukit panjang which is in the west and hwa chong is definitely nearer and there's a direct bus as well. I would,at most take 35mins to reach the schl. As for raffles,it would take me at least one hour. I'm clearly aware that distance is an important factor to be taken into consideration for a jc student. I rlly like the raffles campus though. What should I do? Would distance really affect everything?

if you really like it, distance should not be really a problem if you are determined . my cousin goes from yishun to
njc.

Raffles of course!! Just look at the Stats. It says it all! You can always revise/nap during your journey. My nephew lives in Pasir Ris and goes to Raffles! :rahrah:

Personally, I don't think distance is as major a consideration as things like the programmes offered, school culture, CCAs etc

I don't agree with Quintessential Mum that it's "Raffles of course" and the stats don't necessarily say everything, but I do think each school has it's own pros and cons. Call me idealistic, but I will say that at the end of the day, although grades are important, I think there is more to JC life than just A levels (and perhaps getting a scholarship?). As a HCI alumnus, I am happy to take specific questions on Hwa Chong though (:

That being said, I think you should pick whichever school you prefer (:
