Hi,

Congratulations! Well, you can decide based on:

1. Which uni offers the scholarship if she has applied for scholarships

2. Your financial commitment - SMU tuition fee is higher and for an extra year as compared to NTU. Not forgetting to add on if she wants to go for exchange program.

3. The benefit of a full pledged university like NTU where she can enjoy many other courses (as electives) such as:
- languages like korean
- sports like hockey
- aesthetic like ballroom dance
- liberal arts electives
- science and technology electives, etc

4. Hall life which NTU provides

5. Location of the uni - in town vs what the students called Pulau NTU. :-)

6. the cultural of each uni

7. last but not least, where her friends are going. :-)

Well, you have a good problem on hand. Happy deciding! :-)

For your info, smu graduates are better paid n more in demand by employers .
In general, they are good at presentation skills . Like my company , my boss like to take in SMU graduates as compared to NTU.
But it depends on your Dd personality . If she is the extrovert n out going type, Smu will suit her well.

Agree that SMU grads come across sharper. The reality is communications skills are imporant, especially when all else the same. So even if she isnt the most comfortable in speaking up, it may be good to learn to cope with it early and in a relatively safe environment than say in corporate world.

Ya. I have the opportunity to train both the new recruits from SMU n NTU.
SMU grads are more versatile n communicate better. They will tend to create opportunities for themselves by participating n volunteering themselves in company events. Whereas NTU grads , they tend to be more focus in the main work scope n not so participative in other events. But they are more reliable workers to ensure the main job functions are performed. As for SMU grads , sometime they take on too much events n projects that their main job function become affected.

Given a choice, I will choose SMU .

What is her interest? Also good to bear in mind that With accountancy degree, it doesnt stop her from getting into non accounting/ finance role in future. And vice versa. I know of many high flying finance professionals who had a non-accounting first degree.
