Thanks for the alert! I didn't know this as my kids are way past this stage already. But I sometimes advise people - must remember to check more frequently, and especially before answering questions.
Good tip!

And yes, the SATs are no longer needed in many of the US collages. We were surprised when told of it, as we chatted (last December) with our younger American cousins who went to school there.

No more SATs? I'm glad, because the SATs is a bit racist. But not as bad as the GRE (Graduate Requirement Exam) whose English section of synonyms are as incredibly biased. I'm glad I spent 3 years in the US before I took the GREs because you need to be "Americanised" before you can understand what the heck they are talking about  . Example: I didn't know that "dolorous" and "bereaved" are synonyms

I was only referring to the subject tests being discontinued.

But your first statement was new to me! So I did some quick googling, and found out that it really is true - I hadn't heard that! So for those to whom this is news too, here's some info:
https://www.timeshighereducation.com/st ... plications

Things really do change so fast. I guess this was triggered by the Covid years when travelling to take the tests wasn't possible, and the colleges realised that they could actually do without.

Abandoning the tests is one thing - sometimes the alternative admissions considerations, i.e. holistic evaluations and all, can further disadvantage the disadvantaged groups.

I think it would be mayhem if ever our local universities no longer require A levels or IB scores, and rely solely on percentile ranking tables from schools and other forms of aptitude-based admissions.

Do understand there is "optional" and "optional (with likely assumptions if you don't submit)."

MIT is one of the schools to bring back the test requirements, in contrast the UC System (UCLA, Berkeley) doesn't require at all. Others have been optional pre-COVID (UChicago) and many are currently "optional" for a few more years (more of the latter likely to go permanently optional over time). Even within the "optional" bucket, there are gradients of how applications are viewed with or without the scores, so do spend some time to understand what you are doing when pushing the "Apply Now!" button...

Yes, the headlines are always how the tests are "unfair." Unfortunately, few understand how the scores are used in a positive way.

One daughter took SAT and SAT subject tests, otherwise I wouldn't have known anything about them! That was just 5 years ago. My husband took the GRE in the 1990s, though we ended up in the UK again instead of the US. We were surprised by the antiquated vocab words in the GRE! I knew most of them, but would have died doing the Maths, while he found the Maths easy and relied on his 'walking, talking dictionary' to explain the words.

I just had a play with https://www.sgunistats.com/calculator and my "re-discovered" A Level results on Singpass.

Guesstimating my PW score and 4th H2 (H1) as well as erring on the side of caution for them (i.e. lower score / expectation), I got 81 RP. Is this an acceptable score for KSP?

I'm not going to try. Will be embarrassing. After all, straight A's were few in my time - in a cohort of 400, only about 90 students got 3 A's for A level content subjects. 4 A's would be much fewer, and straight A's for everything even fewer!
