Ranking points from A level grades

Postby DadOfGirl » Sun Feb 02, 2014 3:57 pm

I downloaded "How does marks in A Levels calculated to enter Uni" document from this website. Have few question for my DD awaiting JAE posting result on 5th.
- Is it correct that most students will not use up 12 AU points , but will take 3H2 1 H1, GP, PW & Mother tounge- 10 AU points .

- If a student take H2 Knowledge & Inquiry( instead of General paper) will it be counted at H2 subject in converting raking points , 20 points for A, 17.5 points for B instead of 10 points for A . will it not be unfair to other students as these students will have ranking point from 20 instead of 10.

- yes the norm is 10AU
- no, students who take KI usually take 3other H2 subjects only or with 1H1, where KI can be converted to a H1 for rank pts for the latter if the other H1 is to be included. If not incl a H1 then KI + 3H2 + PW is still 90.

If your dd is thinking of taking KI, do check if the JC she's going to offers the subject. Not every JC does.

You're welcome, dadofgirl. No, it isn't a requirement.
