Hi, everyone. I and a JC student.I want to apply for NUS dentistry .
I want to know how to build up a good portfolio for uni application?
Should I attend workshops or pre uni seminar offer by JC?
And.. Where to find internship in hospital?
Should I sign up for Olympiad ? Is it useful for medicine and dentistry application?

Hi! from my experience, the best way to get internships would be through personal connections! so think of all your primary and secondary connections. Your family, friends, friends of friends, your family GP or dentist etc.

Speak to your dentist or GP about the whole process. They will be best placed to advice you!

And if you don't have a dentist, its a good time to go visit one now! :)

Im going to write an article on how to choose your university course really soon, so visit this website soon!

Hey Annie

Get in touch with me at [email protected], I'll be happy to forward you the contacts I have for hospital attachments. (I'm a current med student at NUS!)

Hello!

Am currently a 14-year-old, aiming to get into Oxford University. Aside from studying, I'm looking for extra-curricular activities to build up my CV. So far, due to my age, I'm unable to take up many suggested activities (join an orchestra, take up a language, etc.) I was wondering what activities I could do that is appropriate for my age group?

TIA :D

Hi, messaged you regarding a highly recommended book on how to get into Oxbridge.

Regarding joining an orchestra, you could check out SNYO (Singapore National Youth Orchestra), which I believe accepts students even younger than 14, so age isn't a barrier. Alternatively, joining your school's band or string ensemble is also possible, although most schools would not have a full symphony or philharmonic orchestra.

Hi,

I am a university lecturer. To beef up your CV, you could join some volunteer work, or do a short internship in a company. This will help you enhance your transferable skills, which may come in useful in your university application.

You will be surprised, some medical schools in UK prefer to take in students with a music background - maybe it's to ensure they are all rounders. All the best!
