Very true indeed...

There are those who claim they never study and yet ace their exams.

Also, there are those who secretly have tuition at home, but will never admit that they have tuition! I used to have a classmate, and when I ask him where he went for tuition, he said his mother say cannot tell. :scratchhead:

After studying so hard for o levels and conquering so many different variety of challenging subjects and achieving 3 or 4 points only to find out you are not good enough to qualify.

A lot of them will regret not studying harder for PSLE where there are only 4 subjects and get into IP.
agree, not easy to enter RI via "O" level.
"O" level itself not easy : so many Sec school subjects to tackle, got to handle Cca too.

out of 1200 RI "A" level students -
about 250 allocated (20.8 %) for JAE students from various Secondary schools, to come in at Y5.
These must be the creme of the "O" level candidates : with 2 point, 3 point.

The rest are IP students.
80 % are IP students : RI boys / RGS girls from Y4, entering Y5.

I've got 6 A1s with a nett of 3 (7-4). I'm thinking of placing RI, then HCI, then VJ. Personally, I really really love RI but I am afraid of taking the risk. I heard that it is easier to get into the latter compared to the former, but I also heard that if HCI isn't placed as your first choice the institution would not even look at your application at all. So what should I do? Is there anyone who managed to enter RI with nett 3?

I know people who got rejected from HC and accepted by RJ, and also rejected by RJ and accepted by HC. It comes down a lot to raw score and luck during the ballot.

Put RI as your first choice. Be prepared to appeal if not alloted. JAE exercise is computerized. School only look at your appeal or application subsequently if not alloted and you still want it.

My view is that yllsom may choose to have students who have a good grasp of chinese, so I am just worried that my C5 this time round would place me in a disadvantage (when I apply to yllsom as this C5 would be reflected as a D) since an A would be preferred.

So how should I place my second choice? HC or VJ?
Thanks so much for your help!
