Poor 'A' Level Result for IP Student - What's the next Step?

Dear all,
Just to seek some clarification of how an IP student who doesnt perform well in his/her A Levels, will go about continuing in their studies...
They only have their PSLE result to show, as they dont take O levels.
Are they allowed to go to any polytechnics or can they take O levels as a private candidate? What are the cost involved for such?....

IP students are known for their great abilities in academics to skip O levels.. And i bet most of them, if not all are allowed to further their studies in Uni after their A levels... If for those who did not meet the expectations for some reason... what is their next path?

many thanks all...

I find your question strange.

Why do you suggest taking of O level as private candidate instead of re-taking the A level papers?

thanks tankee for the info.. i feel more relieved knowing that the percentage is pretty high of getting the result in A levels for IP track..& theres lots of local uni which the student can pursue their studies now... some students might prefer to switch path & go to poly, hence the O Levels is required..

Hi Edyboy,

DS is in RI year 2. During the recent Q&A session with the Principal, the Principal said it is not a problem if want to go to Poly. Poly knows how to assess IP students even if they don't have O levels.

Not too worry abt that part i highlighted in color...As by the end of Yr4, IP students are awarded a certificate fr MOE, stating that they hv completed their secondary school education in their respective IP schs...
They can use the certificate to apply for Polys or others for continuity of education...( of coz, together with their results  )

The poly has a separate entry criteria for IP students who have completed year 4 studies, the equivalent of O levels. Just go visit the respective poly websites on admissions.

If A level results not great then retake or go overseas if money no object.

And I believe there are a few poly courses that require or prefer candidates to have A levels.
