Hi molang, sorry, I would agree with what you have been reading on other forums. In the IT field, you need to keep abreast of the latest as well as network with the best. Nus will be able to offer you both (through the university, a family member was offered a permanent position with 1 of the top global tech firms to work in their European HQ before he even graduated). All the best

My experience w the IT field tells me one’s undergrad don’t matter that much in the long run, it’s how you work that matters. There were poly grads, grads from Australia/US/UK.. everyone progress at different speed. It’s not a given that a certain uni (NUS/NTU) grad will achieve more than the other, there are other factors in play when u get to the working place. And on the contrary, working in a smaller firm first wouldn’t put you at a disadvantage against a top global firm in the tech industry. The skill sets and opportunities to learn is more important in a first job. In IT, u have to keep learning as technology keeps moving. It’s not as stable knowledge based as accountancy/law/med.

Any comments on NUS IS & SiT IS?
We need to make a decision in 2 wks whether to accept SiT 1st or to use the award to ABA for NUS IS as credits might not be fully transferable between uni which will be a main consideration for the extra 2yrs "wasted".

On top of that, any recommendations for other local IT related degree, especially in cybersecurity?
TIA!

Hi Hi , anyone study in NUS or SMU Comp Sci, Info Sys or Comp Engieering
Can share reason of choosing the course?
always hear say smu students more vocal, present well etc ?

Also Comp Enginerring ? - seem difficult - What jobs are they doing currently in this new graduates ..
though my dh is in similar line but our knowledge is outdated, what we can say is no easy job, lots opf brain power - he is doing system architect/ automation, tough job, kid not keen in this area of manufacturing related field

Aerospace Engineering - only in NTU right? any one with info and background in this, are most employed in airforce, SQ only ?

Singapore has a big aerospace industry with many global companies operating at Seletar Aerospace Park.

And most of them don't have an Aerospace Engineering degree, just "normal" engineering degree. So no need to be so tied to the NUS or NTU argument.

Only some are selected for early interviews, and who knows why? But the vast majority are interviewed at the end of the year, or after the results come out, so don't worry. Plenty more scholarship offering bodies than just the PSC these days.

Thanks.

Not looking at PSC.
