recently i let my kids aged 4,6,8 watch the 西游记 on tcs 8 and they loved it. great to intro them chinese language and ch culture.
want to chk, has anyone watched 郑和下西洋？ was it a gd show and is it suitable for kids? any overly romance or violence? thinkg of gettg the dvd for them.

any other gd chinese adult tv serials to let kids watch? i used to let them watch kiddy shows only but i find that they hv no sense of reality, they live in an ivory tower, 不知人间艰苦

My son likes the Mediacorp drama "五福" (starring Chen Hanwei as a country bumpkin who catches crocodiles). Nothing too explicit and he enjoys it so I bought him the DVD.

Lianhe wanbao said psychologists advised parents against letting their kids watch too many Taiwanese / Korean idol dramas. Too many sexual connotations and lovey dovey storylines.

i bought the dvd becos recently my boy got sunday morning class, so i must get him to sleep earlier.
i m thinkg of getting the 郑和下西洋 dvd. is it good to watch? want them watch some 古装戏 otherwise they dont even know wat is 爹娘， 夫人，夫君 all these basic ch terms....when watchg 西游记 they kept askg me what are they talkg abt but they are hooked still esp my boy cos got fighting and magic mah!

plus can learn lots of 成语 from 古装戏

and that the evil tends to be somehow related to the supposedly good. Like someone's pet that escaped, someone's son, etc. It reflected the time when this story was written.

True....seems like a good way to introduce some basic chinese terms/culture etc to kids else they really 'catch no ball' on terms like 文武百官。 So besides 西游记, any other good recommendation? 济公？
