I created this topic so that everyone of you can enjoy the riddles posted. Some of them are at http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7234&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=60 but there are still plenty of riddles I have in mind. They are bound to let you say:"Why didn't I think of that?" ( readers can also post riddles )

Right, lets get started. This will be my first question:

You have a barrel of oil , and you need to measure out just one gallon. How do you do this if you only have a three-gallon container and a five-gallon container? :? :?

Solved it or not, try the next question:

U2 has a concert that starts in 17 minutes and they must all cross a bridge to get there. All four men begin on the same side of the bridge. You must help them across to the other side. It is night. There is one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross at one time. Any party who crosses, either 1 or 2 people, must have the flashlight with them.

The flashlight must be walked back and forth. It cannot be thrown and other tricks like that are not needed to solve the problem. The solution is simply a matter of allocating resources in a certain order. Each band member walks at a different speed. A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower man's pace:

Bono: 1 minute to cross
Edge: 2 minutes to cross
Adam: 5 minutes to cross
Larry: 10 minutes to cross

For example: if Bono and Larry walk across first, 10 minutes have elapsed when they get to the other side of the bridge. If Larry then returns with the flashlight, a total of 20 minutes have passed and you have failed the mission.

This was solved in Die Hard 3! Oh wait...are you too young to know that movie?

There are 2 ways to solve this:
1. Fill 3, pour into 5.
2. Fill 3 again, and pour 2 more gallons into 5.
3. 1 gallon remains in 3.

2nd way but a bit long winded:
1. Fill 5, pour into 3.
2. Throw away 3, pour remaining 2 from 5 into 3.
3. Fill 5 again, pour 1 from 5 to 3. 4 left in 5.
4. Throw away 3, then fill 3 with the 4 left in 5. What remains in 5 is 1 gallon of oil.
