As for me, I think we need to consider some important things when calculating the retirement budget. The most important thing is I guess your expenses which is the key to identifying whether or not you could save enough for your retirement. By looking into your expenses, you will be able to identify the spending habits you need to improve or correct.

The second thing you need to identify in order to calculate your retirement budget is savings.

And the last thing would be your assets which includes your net assets as well as the investment returns you get from them.

However, if you find it inadequate, then it helps to take in this very truthful advice: "Live with your means."

Having 1m to 2m, one can get a 2nd property and live on the rent till the end. Property can even pass down to kids

Before you can determine whether you have enough to retire early, you first need to have a comprehensive understanding of what’s your average monthly expenses. Logic dictates that the lesser you spend each month, the easier it will be for you to retire.
