Investment in Children ....very good returns...?
I do not agree lor ...
As a parent when you bring a life to this world ....
We must be responsible to groom this life to contribute back to society...
Our next generation ....you think they will take care of us....
They will have their burden too....
Governemnt always tell us do not burden your next geneartion....Can work ...work
Life is a cycle:
Young Couples have children.....who will take care of their children when they are young?
Answer: Maid/Nanny /Child Care /Student Care
Couples when Aged....and sick who takes care of them?
Answer: Maid/Nursing Home/Hospital/or Wait to died....
That is why birth rates in all Developed Countries ....are very low.....
Groom a Child in Singapore needs at least 400k....
Have Returns or not after 20 years ....it depends on your luck....
Government do not have Guarantee on your this Investment....
Not like your investment in the Bank....
I am now in this Cycle ...so I do not treat my children like investment...
I just Groom them well .....
And hope I will aged healthly and do not become a burden to the society...

Agree with you dolphinsiah. DW & I also don't plan to depend on ds for our old age. We understand that it's terribly difficult for one person to support 2 old folks in the current climate. We'll take any financial support given (if there is) as a bonus.
Sun_2010,
I guess the ROI on our investment is the satisfaction of seeing our children maturing and becoming the kind of people we aspired to be. That's priceless.

good returns - maybe. but who is going to share it? 80% or more definitely not the parents.
but hey, that's our kids so 无所谓。dh and i will definitely support our kids in whatever they want to do. as long as they are happy, that's all that matters.
