Need financial assistance

I have a neighbour who just divorced with her husband. They have a child who is going to enter secondary school next year. As you all know, secondary schools requires alot of money for books, and other extra stuffs. However, they are not qualified to be able to join the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) since they are Permanent Residents (PR). The husband for some reason refuses to convert to Singapore citizen and gives not enough money to the wife to support the family, complaining that he has no money. The wife also has another younger child to take care of and is hence unable to find a job to support the family. Is there other ways to get financial assistance from other organisations?

How about trying the Community Development Council. They should be able to advise. There's also the ST Pocket Money Fund. The Sec. Sch. itself should be able to help in some way.

Hi,

If you know of any financially needy child who is willing to learn but need help in P5/P6 maths, please pass my contact to them.

I am ex-MOE trained lady teacher, currently giving P5/P6 Maths Group Tuition at my home in Bukit Timah (near Bukit Batok). I reserve some slots for free tuition. I have 1 slot starting 1st week of Oct (after current P6s sit for their PSLE). The slot will likely to be on Monday, 7.15pm to 9.15pm, timing to be confirmed 1 month before commencement.

For free tuition, I do not need to see income proof. All materials will be provided free. I would strongly suggest that the child to stay in the west area, so as not to be tired out from the journey and lose concentration during lessons. I have 1 unfortunate case whereby 1 child travelled all the way from Woodlands, dropped out after a few lessons. So far, none others have opted out.

One non-fee paying P6 child whom I have taught since start of P5, came out top in his class for 2015 P6 CA1 and SA1 maths.

Regards,
