I believe that for most of us, we would not only survive but also not be subjected to too stressful a life just by living a simple life, frugally that is. What is your opinion?

According to Wikipedia, "frugality is the quality of being frugal, sparing, thrifty, prudent or economical in the use of consumable resources such as food, time or money, and avoiding waste, lavishness or extravagance."

Some stress and pressure are indeed unavoidable. In fact, a little stress would generally do us some good by spurring us to do better, if not our best. Unfortunately, scientific and medical advancement have not yet able to tell us how much stress is too much for each of us as individuals. Only by succumbing to cancer and other illnesses, do we then know that we are too stressed out. Most, I believe, would not disagree that it may be a little too late by then.

I'm a frugal person, but willing to spend the money to travel :p

I used to be extremely frugal. But now in my 40s, I try to be less extreme and be just moderately frugal.

Maybe I have been conditioned by a childhood where the likelihood of the next meal was less than assured. But on the other hand, I have siblings and friends who spend like there is no tomorrow: Beautiful cars, horse-riding, fine dining restaurants etc when their income is a fraction of mine.

I guess it's all about living within one's means. What we see may not always be what they really are. Being frugal out of choice is one thing, struggling to (barely) survive is another. For the latter, I guess one will need to do a financial checkup to see what went wrong and possibly figure out ways to improve the situation.

Disagree with this one. The quality of the kopi is getting worse.
