Suze Orman Show on CNBC

With rising costs and increased learning needs, financing our children's education is no longer a simple walk in the park. Discuss with other parents about how they are managing their finances to cope with their expenses.

I don't usually recommend TV programs and this is not the Recess thread, but those with cable TV should seriously watch the Suzie Orman Show on CNBC. Some of the investment/retirement savings stuff may not apply outside the US, but what she says about managing money contains much homely wisdom.

People first, then money, then things.
Is it a need or a want?

The "Can I Afford It?" segment is always great fun, even for the children.

My main gripe is why don't we have a similar program teaching such financial wisdom in a Singapore context?

Yes, some Singaporeans sure need to learn a thing or two about managing the money they have ( or don't have ! ). Your post brings to my mind an ex-colleague who spent her year end bonus in advance - 9 months in advance to be exact. :siao:
