SINGAPORE - From Thursday, Jan 1, higher medication subsidies will be rolled out for all subsidised patients at polyclinics and specialist outpatient clinics.

Lower and middle income Singaporeans with a valid Community Health Assist Scheme (Chas) card will get a 75 per cent subsidy at these institutions.

On top of this, pioneer generation members will also get an extra 50 per cent off their subsidised medication bill.

Thanks… I've not been keeping abreast of news so this is useful.

Time to check out whether my mother will have to fork out a bomb if she were to go for knee replacement surgery...

There is a huge subsidy in consultation fees at public hospitals. The tricky part comes in the medications. The standard medication could receive subsidy for PG card holders. The non-standard items could not. To us, medicine is medicine and we dont bother whether it is standard or non-standard.

Appreciate to share your mum's experience if possible, pls.
Thanks.
