Hi
I am out of touch with the market rate.
How much red packet would you give for wedding lunch at the "one15 marina"@sentosa cove?
It is a couple we know from church.

it also depends on the venue. if you and hubby attend, then I think the red packet would be about $388 at Sentosa.

Sorry to jump in here. I googled and found that the cost of wedding lunch is about $98 per person at one marina. So I guessed minimum $100 per person for the Ang Bao would be fine so that your church Friend won’t make a ‘loss’.

yes, still need to give something, even if not attending. if dont want to give ang pow, then replace with a nice, meaningful wrapped up present, for the couple. Others give voucher. But cannot be empty handed.

I never really understood the need to make a profit or break even at weddings. We planned a wedding six years ago fully expecting a loss, and that's OK. It was a privilege for us to have our friends and family take the time to attend our wedding, so if they chose to give $50 per couple of $300 per couple or even a toaster as a gift, it didn't really matter to us.

Totally agree. Weddings should be within one’s means, and I must say most of the weddings I have attended are aligned with the couple’s living standards. It is not the guests’ duty to help the couple “cover costs”.
Similarly, if not attending, should still give a red packet or wedding gift because it is a form of good wishes.
