Transfer from IP to Non-IP Sec School

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

Transfer from IP to Non-IP Sec School

Postby ApronMama » Mon Sep 20, 2010 10:20 am

Any parents here have gone through this with their sec ds/dd, kindly share your experience, such as how difficult it is to find a reasonably good non-IP school to get transfer to prepare for their child GCE'O' level? Or, no choice, just got to go any school with vacancy?

Future IP schools will not have such issue since will cater for both. Currently, such there is such issue in some IP schools.

IP schools still have O level classes? There's no need to transfer, i presume.

All the new IP schools will have dual track - SCGS, MGS, Cedar, Cath High, SJI. Also VS. I think schools like DHS, RVH have O level classes for those who can't cope with the IP.

I'm not sure if RV still has the O level class for its weaker students. Maybe check at the RV thread?

RV does not have O level class. Very weak students have to leave the sch, go to a non IP sch to do O level.

My neighbour is in rv, yes no 'o' levels tracks, further if hmt is not at least b4 by sec 2, warning will be issued.
