Hi, is my son's school unusual by having early morning remedial for those preparing for exams? As in before flag raising ceremony. Anyone else has similar experience?

Is ur child p6 ?

My p6 son also required to be at sch by 7am for half an hr of remedial before sch starts, everyday up to PSLE. I heard of one sch which has remedial class for their p6 on sat. And there's another sch also started sci revision for their p6 very early, and it's done during the half an hr before flag raising ceremony.

The class next door to mine has pre-assembly remedial, supplementary classes too. My class only has supp class, and special science remedial for selected students. But on 9 october Everyone goes back to school for a special 3.5-hr science supp...

mine is neighbourhood sch. in fact, it's not even one of the top neighbourhood schs around the estate. so i guess such PSLE prep classes is standard practice for all schools.

I also see a lot of P6 students around our neighbour school carry various colour files with many worksheets and booklet of pass year papers (2005- 2009) walking home with heavy footstep around 4-6 pm daily.

my P6 boy came home last week saying that HOD for science said no use to start study now for PSLE when i asked him to revise his science! i guess the HOD was trying to say tell the children that they shld hv started the preparation months ago & not now.

for his sch, std supplememtary classes 3x a week, extra lessons beyond that for selected children.

he has been doing exercises (eng, maths & sci) from PSLE assessements assigned by form teacher. this week teacher allowed them to bring home the answer sheets, guess coz not much time left to go through with them.

Let me share abt my twins intensive training in school..

Daily- 630am reached sch for science remedial till 715am.
Mon & Tues- till 5pm for Maths
Thurs - till 330pm for MT
Fri - till 330pm for sci
On top of that- Hmwk daily for 2hrs by sch..

Only left weekends for me to revise as they r so super tired on weekdays! I am nervous abt PSLE but I am so afraid to stress the poor kids further..

My twins r only in Montfort Junior, though in top class, they r ranking almost bottom of class.. Sigh... I believed the teachers worked really hard n I shall hope for the best...

looks like ur sch's training is even tougher than my son's. with my son's schedule, i aready find very little time to do revision with him. no choice, just have to trust that the sch will do a good job.

but at least your "suffering" is once and for all !! i will have another round 5 yrs later when my girl is due for PSLE :(

That's really intensive. There was no extra prep at my niece's school last year.
