Hello

I wasn't aware of Sophia Blackmore program came to know recently.

My daughter did not sat for DSA at MGS. Now I understand the Sophia Blackmore program is based only on DSA.

She selected MGS as her first choice in S1 form and her score is 257.

In order to get into Sophia Blackmore program what should I do?

Thank you

I know in the past you could sit for a qualifying test for consideration into SBC after the S1 posting exercise. I don't know if that's changed. Why don't you call the school?

Thanx for the question. Daughter is putting MGS 2nd choice and would like to try for SBP as well should she miss the first choice.

Things are likely to change soon, as MGS launches their joint Integrated Programme with ACS(I). It will be an interesting time.

What I heard from the school is they have to take the HAST (high ability selection test) to qualify for the SBC program.

Currently, the Sophia Blackmore class as it is currently employed is more than sufficient to deliver MGS girls who will do well in ACS(I)'s pre-university IB Diploma Programme (i.e. Year 5 and 6 after O-levels). This is based on the typical scores achieved by MGS alumnae graduating from ACS(I). One of them scored the maximum 45 points, although the SBC was not yet deployed in her time.

The full Integrated Programme is scheduled to be launched only for the 2013 intake for Sec 1 at MGS. Meanwhile, the SBC (and indeed, the usual school programme) are likely to deliver a sufficient standard of education.

No, I'm not from MGS. :)

Hi,

What I meant was will the Sec 1 , 2011 batch be able to join the the ACS (I) in Sec 3 or something because you have mentioned that they are launching their IP with ACS(I) . If I have misunderstood your post, I am sorry for that.
Thanks.

The Sec 1, 2011 batch will go through the usual MGS programme with O-levels until they graduate as the Sec 4 batch of 2014. They can then apply to enter ACS(I) in 2015 for Year 5 and Year 6.

As it stands, the IP structure is likely to be similar (in future) to the RGS/RI system, in which RGS girls move on to RI(JC) after Sec 4, with their IP being parallel to RI's IP.

Hope that helps! :)
