My girl fail her math in P5 I dunno how to improve her math even though she has home tuition. I heard this problemsum.com is not bad but they only deal with school. Now I am sending her to Just education I hope is better them home tuition.

I don't have much to say here, but my mum got me interested by applying them in real life. I can't tell you how cos i don't really remember (i was around 4 or 5 that time)

Try to start with an assessment book that is not too challenging. Let the child taste success. That way the child feels motivated to do better.
It is very discouraging for a child to see a lot of cross marks (wrong answers).
Longman Exam - My Exam Companion Maths is a good place to start. It is relatively easily with a few tough questions. It also has a diagnostic table which helps to identify which topic the child is weak in.
Tuitions are supplementary. Parents need to spend one-to-one time to help overcome the child’s weakness.

I agree that u can try to let yr child 'taste' success as a form of motivation. My SIL DD also failed p5. Later she took tuition and then got A fr PSLE. so dont give up.

Another good book is Problem Solving Processes by Fabian NG.

Get interested in P5 Math yourself!
Nothing beats doing Maths together with parents... Throw in an odd incentive, etc.
In this way, you inspire your child, bond with her and also in the process understand first hand why she is not performing.

Also, do see if it is an English or understanding challenge that she is facing, which could be underlying the Math "problem".

At some point, being standoffish and sending to this and that school is just a substitute for what you really can do... Seize this opportunity and spend some good time solving math questions. Both of you will learn much - guaranteed!

I do it by not even crossing... And making the ticks larger and more pronounced.
If wrong, we redo together and then I give a tick...
