Hi,
Do you think school banding determine how good the school is?

Just wonder if those schools that have more classes for NA and NT will pull down the school banding.

Is this a first thing to consider when making decision?

Thanks all for your views.

Sch with Express stream and Normal stream will have 2 separate bandings for the streams. You can find that in the S1 posting booklet. Look carefully at the heading to determine if it is banding for Express or Normal stream.

Was about to ask this question too. How do you all define good when so many are asking for good schools? Just by looking if they are in the banded list in the Schools Selection Book? Or do you all look at the culture too but how when clearly you will not be able to see that in the book nor under MOE's school info except to ask around.

What if a school's overall is not bad but they are not listed in the green list? Would you all still choose that school or a school that is in the list even the culture may not be that good?

There are separate banding lists for Express and Normal that are based on last year performance.

This is an indication of how the school fared in term of their previous N or O level results.

It will be good if you can find out the banding TREND of your desired school. It could be improving, or vice versa.
But such information maybe tough to get.

So even for 4th-6th choice, try to select those with low banding.

If you have affiliation, etc, then very good for you :)
Sure get 1st choice mah!

Of course there are other considering factors like travelling distance, CCAs, etc, etc.

Good luck to all.
