Higher Chinese Bonus Points (+3, +2, +1)

Sorry parents, for the seemingly silly question. From the MOE website, it says that "Pupils in the top 30% of the PSLE cohort who take Higher Chinese at the PSLE will be given bonus points for admission to SAP schools according to the following table:
Higher Chinese Grade Bonus Point
Distinction 3
Merit 2
Pass 1"

Are RI/RGS/NUS High considered SAP schools and do the bonus points apply to these schools? Thanks much!

No, RI/RGS/NUSH are not SAP schools and will not consider the bonus points. SAP schools are schools like NYGH/HCI, DHS, CHS, SNGS, RVH etc.

Thanks very much jtoh! I saw alot of discussions on score 2XX+ bonus points even when mentioning ACS/RI/RGS etc so I got a little confused. Thanks for clarifying that the bonus points are strictly considered by SAP schools only.

HCL is for students who are good in Chinese and the bonus points is to reward them for their efforts if they apply to SAP schools. The bonus points will be of no use if they apply to non-SAP schools. But most students would choose to take HCL in secondary school so taking HCL in primary school would put you in a better position in secondary school. But if your Chinese isn't very good and you have no intention of applying to SAP schools, then you're better off not taking HCL in primary school and focussing your efforts on the core PSLE subjects.

How many SAP secondary schools are there in Singapore?

Other than the 6 above, which are the other schools?

thanks jtoh for your explanation. and if can score something like A or above at O level, then will be exempted from Chinese in JC....so early efforts in primary sch is very worth.... :xedfingers:
