Just finish Prelim, have question to ask experienced KSP, especially whose children had gone through PSLE. Can we predict PSLE by prelim results?

Thanks

No you can't

some slacked after getting good prelim result, ended up having PSLE deproved from prelim

some woke up due to poor prelim result and cheonged all the way to PSLE and got 70 points higher than prelim t-score

so, you can't predict

it is easier to predict than rain than the PSLE score based on prelim

I believe that is extreme case. But for students who are quite constant, won't the prelim be a good estimating base for PSLE?

What was your son's experience?

for my girl's classmates, most of them were +-10 points. Of course, there were who improved a lot but no one who dropped by 20 or 30 points.

No. Different schools set different standard papers. Even if you come from supposedly branded schools and expect PSLE score to mirror or even +5/10, also not very inaccurate across the school cohort. Reason being, PSLE is how well your DC does vs the 2012 cohort. Nobody knows the quality of the dragon cohort. Also, there is a bit of luck element in PSLE - because of T-score and bell curve, if the PSLE happen to be easy for your DC weak subjects and difficult for your DC strong subjects, wow, thank your lucky stars :boogie:  Conversely, if PSLE happen to be easy for DC strong subjects and difficult for his weak subjects... :slapshead: :gloomy: A student strong in all 4 subjects last minute slipup also not unheard of. Sometimes the students who ace in PSLE may not be your usual suspects.

That was also what teachers told DD and her classmates. Anyway, glad to confirm. Now it is time to "Chiong".

This was what the form teacher had told us as well. My girl was mainstreamer from a gep school. This info applied only to the top class and not the cohort

+-10 points only applies to consistent performers, excluding those who "woke up" from poor Prelim results & those who slacked after getting good Prelim results.
