Ask kids to give opinions (good/bad, like/dislike), and to support them with reasons. There should be no 'right' answers for such questions.

To start, next time when they want to buy toys, ask them to list out pros and cons and rationale for buying. Good essay then can get.

You can also have fun with discussing silly questions like "are oranges better than apples?" or "would you rather be a bird or a mosquito?" - no answer is wrong and the more answers the merrier. It seems silly but it makes kids think, and we've had a lot of laughs over such questions.
