Hi parents,
May I know which of the above schools do you prefer?
St Nicks' COP is 253, yes higher than Crescent COP 244. But St Nicks's this yr only hv 5 O level classes n plus it's affiliated Pri girls, that's why COP shot up.
My DD is offered a place in St Nicks' very last minute. So don't know shd transfer out of Crescent?
Any advise?

Yes, I expected more for St Nicks'. At face value, its a SAP n history dated many yrs ago.

Sngs will have 2 points affiliation to the new jc....

Im not so keen in the 2 points...
In fact, heard SNG teachers so so only. That's my worries.

My daughter is in the st nicks primary section. I agree that most of the teachers are so so only though there are a few good teachers. The teachers just teach the basics and I find its not sufficient to cover for exams. My DD has to rely on tuition notes for exam.

Yes, that's what I heard.
Girls' families are above average and can afford tuition like Learning Lab...
I know there are gd teachers as well. But if the culture of the school is as such where private tuition is being relied on, I very scare.
My DD wants to go SNG which I dont support.

Precisely in my dd class, I am talking about pri section, almost the whole class go for tuition classes. A nunber of students come from well to do families. One quarter of the class goes to learning lab. My DD did well in her compo writing becos her tuition class train her the writing techniques. She says sch teacher never teach them such techniques in sch. If I were u, I will go for crescent. My neighbour's daughter is in crescent n she seems to enjoy herself in the sch.

I think there is a difference bet st nich primary n st nich sec. Tuition is common across most primary schools but not so in sec schools. The reasons being there are more subjects in the sec sch and lesser free time for the kids as they have longer hrs in school. Furthermore most sec sch students will no longer obediently attend tuition classes. Secondary school is the time where they grow and be an independent learner; learn fr the trs and make their own notes.
