He seemed a bit subdued at breakfast - is he all right?

Today is the first day of the Oral examination for PSLE. For many twelve years old kids, this will be the first major test in their young journeys.

Interesting, my happy go lucky boy seemed subdued this morning. We can sense his anxiety. It’s understandable; after all, this is his first test in a National examination.

Son, I want you to know that it’s good enough to try your best .Be the best that you can be, put up the best fight you can offer, run a good race and enjoy the journey. Whatever the outcome, daddy and mummy still love you.

There will be more hills and mountains to climb, more rivers and seas to cross. As long as you gain from past experiences and continue to learn independently, you’ll go on to secure your dreams.

I agree. It's very important to let our kids know that we love them no matter how they perform in the exams.

I will like to wish that all Pri 6 students do well in their upcoming PSLE Exams, especially knowing that they are having their PSLE Oral Exams these 2 days.

Best of luck to all!

Last year, the advice from school form teacher to my girl's class, a few days before PSLE, was to relax and play games. Do not do last minute study anymore. In fact in that few days, what they did in class was, played games and more games and more games. She adviced them to do that at home too but as my girl was quite weak in Math, she was still mugging on challenging problems at the last minute. Even at that last moment, there were questions she could not solve and was panic. I could only tell her "Its OK, such tough questions, it would not come out". :D

Today was dd's oral. Said she was more nervous than usual (because it was the real thing mah) ...When she was called up...she walked towards the 2 examiners..mind was gablah, hands cold...she then mumbled her number, stood rooted for awhile and forgot to ask "May I sit down". Examiner then said "you may sit down" and automatically she added "May I sit down?", then realised her mistake - aiyoh, she said she felt so foolish...! So funny...

Do the examiners for MT Orals converse with the kids in Chinese/Malay/Tamil, as they do in English? Or do they simply ask the children in English to respond to the picture and the guiding questions, and record the responses?
