Better in what way? Different people have different yardsticks, and different schools are 'better' for different individuals. Do you mean more competitive, better academic results, CCA performance, physical or social environment, teaching style (more/less spoonfeeding) etc?

You can change your opinions after the clarification. Also, if you have any comments or any otjer information, you can post them. Thank you. My score can enter all of the schools. Heard HCI need entrance exam to enter. If anyone took the test before, hope u can share some experience... Thanks

Good Secondary Schools

Post by Kiasu Alamak » Sun Apr 14, 2013 1:15 pm

My daughter is going to face PSLE this year, and I was wondering about the secondary schools she should go to. Can anyone name schools were aggregate is above 240 (for express, if not normal A) and is somewhat not far from Punggol?

From MOE search engine, I retrieved these, not ranked by merit but by location proximity to Punggol.

Edgefield Sec School - Punggol
Nan Chiau High - Seng Kang
CHIJ St. Joseph's Convent - Seng Kang
Zhonghua Sec School - Serangoon
Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' School - Hougang
Xinmin Sec - Hougang

PSLE T-score 240 will not go normal acad.

You can use the MOE school advance search to churn out a list. You can search by aggregate score, location, etc.

http://app.sis.moe.gov.sg/schinfo/SIS_AdvSearch.asp

Then you can decide if you still wish to limit the location to Punggol.

All the best to your child

dear Kiasu Alamak

If your daughter score is above 240 for PSLE, she should choose Nan chiau (SAP school), last year cut-off point is 240.

Zhonghua secondary near Serangoon MRT station is also a good school with last year cut-off point is 233.

Anderson secondary school is also a good school, last year cut-off is 246. She can take bus no. 159 and 50 from the bus stop near compass point direct to this school. My daughter is Sec 2 this year and she is in this school.

Zhonghua and anderson are autonomous school.

Btw, my boy is also taking PSLE this year. From my experience, they can perform better if they do not feel stressful. Do not keep reminding them about taking PSLE this year, believe me they are well aware of this.

Thanks for your replies, smileplease and SAHM_TAN. My daughter's actually not interested to go to Nan Chiau as she wants to be in a school where there is mix races.

What do you think of Cedar Girls' Secondary, Tanjong Katong Girls' School and Crescent Girls' School? My daughter is quite interested in going to girl schools, and I find her opinion rather clever. If she goes into a mix school, maybe she'll get distracted by boys, and I would not want that.

I do not want my daughter to go to Punggol schools especially, because I don't find them ... good, especially Greendale Secondary. However, I think Greendale Primary is a very good school with great manners, Mee Toh as well.

I need your opinions on good schools, let it be far or not. I just want it to be a good school. That's all. And truthfully, not all schools are "good". :slapshead:
