DSA 2014

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

Avoid all the dilemma.

HAHA.... this strategy can still give you a "happy" dilemma. :dancing:

Have you thought of getting both COs?
Since both are 1st choice, then how to choose?

Then choose the first first choice lor

Because during application time, you're not sure which school will offer your dd CO, so you just go ahead and applied for two, concurrently ?

Well, this is a happy problem, isn't it? :rahrah:

Go for the one which your DD has the best fit. Discuss with her to see which school gives her the best "at home" and "at ease" feel given that she would have visited both schools for her interviews, etc. .

Your DD's input is VERY important, yours ... er ... quite secondary here since she will be the one who will be in the school for the next 4 years. :siam:

Remember, her choice may not be your choice, but being the ever supportive parent, you simply need to support her choice, regardless.

One doesn't need to reject a CO until PSLE result is out, am I correct to say this?

Yes. The school will give them a form around Oct 20-24 week. At that point, the child has to indicate their option.

Until PSLE is over, not until Psle results come out in end of Nov
RI has 6 GEP classes, and HCI only has 2 classes. HCI gave only ~60% GEPs COs, so it can give more COs to MSers. Therefore, it is more difficlult to enter HCI than RI for GEPs,
thanks. that means HCI gives about 180 places to GEP boys and finally only about 60 are filled. there are about 120 places for WL.
Nope, that means if RI give ~180 places to GEPs, HCI only gives ~120 places to GEPs and gives ~60 COs to MSers. Then, about 60 GEPs gave up their COs of HCI, and 60 WLs of HCI will fill them.

:congrats:
to all Parents and their children in getting their COs and WLs.

Never knew DSA can cause so much anxiety until I experienced it firsthand.

As this DSA stage is coming to an end by 29 Aug 2014, I do hope that all the initiatives done by the wonderful parents in this thread can truly benefit the future DSA applicants.

I shall start a tabulation of the category of DSA and it's perceived requirement. Feel free to add/edit/remove and contribute our experience/knowledge for the future DSA applicants.

I am trying something new in my next post. ignore it if rubbish comes out.
