Dear parents,

I am looking for your advice or experience for the preparation of the last twenty days for PSLE, as I am also struggling what could be helpful to my ds who is going to take his first important examation in his life.
Since his dreaming school is HwaChong, he is just at the line around 255 - 260 according to his prelim results.
His subjects include HCL: Math ~86, CL ~ 92, Sc ~ 88, EL ~ 78 and HCL ~ 82.

Thanks in advance

Hi Suz855, thanks for your comfort.
Unfortunately, my DS is from a neighbourhood school. The score of its top student of last year was only 265.

Is he among the top 10 of his cohort? If he is willing to work harder, then let him practice top school prelim papers. For us, dd choose to stay home than going to school for suppl classes and she is planning to work on the papers, she find it more efficient n less stress than being in school

He can work hard to achieve a higher score for his maths and English. Zoom in on the weak areas and drill.

I agree language is very hard to improve. I regretted we didn't force DS to read Chinese books. It is too late now  . We'll make sure he reads newspaper in secondary school.

It's the last lap, need to make sure your child is not too stressed up. Their well being is still the most important. We parents have to be very clear that academic is important but never more important than our kids well being.

Never let your kids feel that you value their academic more. You love them all the same regardless of their academic performance. I find myself reassuring my students more because their parents push them to the wall.

There is a limit to everything.

I'm getting emotional here. Just feel upset with my student's parents. Do not push the limits.

I think for the last 20 days. Instead of pushing them, spend 20 mins to talk to them daily. I have seen students who became so obsessed with exams that they are so withdrawn and depressed.

* Agree to disagree. No dispute. Peace.

Agree. Maybe it is easier for me to balance DS's study with rest because I am SAHM so I know how much effort he had put in. We had video night on Friday and we will have another video night tonight so his days are not only study and study. He also has breaks during the day when he can watch his cartoon and play with his toys. He is currently sitting next to me singing while doing duan wen tian kong exercise

I think it is harder for FTWM because they have work stress and their time with their child is limited.

Happy to know that he has a balance
By the way, where is your newbie thread?

I'm croaking like a toad now.. Was agitated by my group tuition students today.. Now when I scold them, I feel more tired.. Must keep my cool..

Can you take Manuka honey? Sorry I forgot what we can eat and what we cannot eat during pregnancy  I only remember cannot take raw food including salad and cannot take soft ice cream.

I am going to be less active in KSP after PSLE so I don't want to have newbie thread
