Malay special programme

Hi , can anyone share with me what this programme is like and whether it is very time consuming in terms of lessons and homework?
Our first choice school offers the MSP within the school so no need to travel out. Ds is neutral about taking it, so would like to find out more before we submit our choices tonight.
Can we opt out at any time or sign up subsequently if we don't do it now at the s1 posting stage? Thank you.
