Paya Lebar Methodist Girls' vs Dunman Sec

Postby Mumwith1girl1boy » Tue Dec 24, 2013 10:23 pm

Hi,

Dd was posted to Dunman Sec but dream school is PLMGS (her 1st choice). She is 1 point away from the PLMGS COP.

Currently waiting for PLMGS reply on appeal which only out on 31st Dec (according to school).

Appreciate if anyone have any idea on how good are these 2 schools in terms of school's academic performance and school environment ?

Thanks in advance.

Dunman Sec is generally regarded to be one of the best neighbourhood school in Tampines (after Ngee Ann Sec, I think). But if you are not staying around Tampines area, travelling time could be a problem as it's located quite far away from MRT station and you'll need to take a feeder bus to reach the school.

In terms of the GCE "O" Level result, Dunman Secondary School is the top secondary school in the Tampines and Pasr Ris area combined. This piece of information was shared by the school principal during the meet the parents session earlier this year.

The Principal also showed info that most of their students end up in Poly and not the JCs after O levels. They seem to be more pro poly like the other neighbourhood schools.

Hi A better tomorrow,

Appeal to PLMGS not successful. Dd was a bit disappointed initially, now she is happy settling down in Dunman.
