All About T-Score

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

259 vs AL 7 for RI, mentioned by sch tr, hence top 4 cop

250 vs AL 10 is just guess

230 vs AL16, based average kid scoring 4 A, above 75 mark

200 vs AL20 for express was announced

To achieve Tscore 230, minimum requirement per subject, is 80+ marks, 80 and above, not 75

Reason

(80 x 4 subjects ) = 320 x 0.72 = 230.4

And, what does above 80+ marks fall into ?
under AL 3 band

So, AL 3 x 4 subjects = Total is AL 12, not AL 16

If take 75 marks per subject, what will it give us ?

75 x 4 = 300 x 0.72 = give us Tscore 216, which is far away from 230

So, 230 is around AL ... 12

For discussion only,
230 is moderated score, AL is raw score. May not be direct translation.

If 230 is mode, most kids scoring this compared with other score average score, is more plausible to be 75 and above average, the intention of grade A.

Hence Al 12 for 230 is a bit high. Is a hunch, either of us could be wrong, because we never have raw score to work on. Except sch results. But that is also on a different calibration

- that’s not how t score is calculated . That is the raw score . T score needs to take into account cohort score and standard deviation for the year . It’s quite a black box imho.
