Appeal Secondary One Posting

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

True, for the appeal case, since it is under the mercy of the principal and it is not transparent, indirectly, corruption will come in if the principal is not careful. maybe, this is where the rich and powerful will get favouritism, or maybe not. Only god’s know.

Well, nothing much you can do. Just study hard and move on. Even if you meet the COP, there are many people appealing with a better AL in front of you especially in those popular school. Good luck.

True.

For appeal cases, even if the school u appealing for is not inside your list of original 6 choices, appeal can also be successful ! It all depend on whether Principal favor u or not. Appeal is never transparent.

Anyone had experience with appealing to SJI IP program and the chances of success?

I don’t think anyone will be able to tell you the chances of success since each appeal is unique. Furthermore, the situation will differ every year as it depends on how many vacancies are available. As long as you meet the COP, you can send in the appeal. Who knows, you could be the one picked up by the school.

Can I know if an appeal is successful, is it auto-transfer from posted school to the school you successfully appealed for or do you still get to decide after appeal is successful? As the results of appeal will only be out in January, school would have already started in the posted school, I’m not sure will child feel settled in and not want to transfer after that (if the appeal is successful).

No bashing please..

Not auto.

Suppose
u have appealed to more than one Secondary school, attended more than one interview
and
let's say, or assume that
u have been successful for more than one appeal.
Then,
you (parent) and your child can discuss & decide, made up your mind :-
which school,
do u wish to accept the appeal or Transfer to ?

=============================

If u are successful for an Appeal,
the NEW school will give u a Form to fill up.

After filling up the form,
go back to your OLD school to get your Principal's signature to sign the Form, so as to release you, set u free, let u go.

Then,
bring this same form back to the new (successfully appealed school) school, and submit to GO.
GO will submit to MOE, inform MOE.
MOE will process,
update their MOE database that you have been transferred into the new school.

GO : General Office

=============================

The vacancy that u have created, after the OLD school has released you -
will in turn be given to another student (if any), who has attempted to seek an appeal, to Transfer into your old school (the school, that u have given up )

On the other hand,
if your child decided not to transfer after all, but to remain inside the OLD school,
then,
no need to do anything.

Hi, My boy has posted to Ngee Ann Secondary school BUT someone asked me to appeal to transfer to St. Hilda's, being the reason it is affiliated to SAJC. Please share your view and comments of St. Hilda's secondary VS Ngee Ann Secondary in terms of school culture, teachers' teaching attitude and students disciplines, important is the school studying environment. Thanks!

I assume you are staying in the east. Is SAJC's location fine with you? If yes go ahead to try for appeal if you are like the JC affiliation. If not what are the other options? VJC, Dunman High, TJC and TMJC all the east side JCs depending on your child's result.

Having affiliation is one thing. Producing the results good enough to make good use of the affiliation is another…
