Appeal Secondary One Posting

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

Congratulations to you and DD!! Wondering what prompted you to change from RGS to NYGH? Both are equally good :)

nygh her first choice. she probably missed by decimal points. thus tried to appeal. was telling her both schools are equally good thus if not successful for nygh in her appeal, just move on :-)

hi all, need help,

wonder if her T-score is 3 marks lower than the cut off, what are the chances of appealing?

or should I put her ideal school as first choice (even if is 3 marks short)? I do not want to waste the first choice if the chances is not high

how does appeal take place, is it tedious? need some advise
thks

Understand from MOE new ruling that you need to meet COP before you can appeal. The appeal process will only happen after the S1 posting results is out. At that time, you will need to get the appeal application form from the school, put in all the details and documents, then submit for appeal. During that time, you probably need to report to the S1 posting school. Results for the appeal may be around last week or Dec or even up to 1st 2 weeks of Jan. Must say that it will be an unsettling process for the kid as you probably cannot get uniform and books for the S1 posting school, yet waiting for the results of the appealed school.

You are referring to the previous year's COP, right?
Since there's no way anyone can tell what is this year's COP at this point in time, perhaps you should just place your ideal school as 1st choice and have a go at it!

https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/secon ... ts-release

MOE will consider appeals for transfer after the S1 Posting Exercise. Such transfers are subject to availability of vacancies and will only be considered for students with:

Serious medical conditions (e.g. chronic heart conditions, kidney problems)
Dyslexia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder
Physical disabilities (e.g. using wheelchair, crutches)

The results of the appeals will only be made known to applicants in early January. Applicants should continue to attend lessons at their posted secondary school while waiting for the results of the appeal. Applicants may check the outcome of their appeals with the secondary school that they were posted to.

I called DHS to check some admin matters so at the same time ask them about appeal and if it is true we cannot do so if unable to meet COP. Admin told me still can appeal, There is already an online form just fill up. I went to the website to take a look and there is no mention at all in the appeal form about this COP rule. Maybe things have change this year? Suggest if really not successful after posting release do call the school and ask if really want to appeal.
