Is it true that if we apply for transfer in after sec 1 posting.. we only get to know the outcome after 20 Jan 2019?

now is the "appeal period"... so if you wanna transfer out, its better to submit your appeal to the respective school, in person (if possible, with your child) in case you bump into the P/VP n get to chat with them for a stronger impression/interview.

successful appeal, will usually be notified by 30/31 Dec , or as soon as school is able to confirm a vacancy. But, since its a chain effect (process), can be as late as 1st week of school.

I have a feeling many are requesting for appeal this year. It seems neighborhood school cut-off went as high as 7 points while elite schools went down as much as 4 points. 2006 babies are hit real hard. Honestly I personally feel that the booklet that was given as a reference to choose schools is not reliable based on the cut-off points reflected in the booklet this year. :stupid:

Transfer and appeal of sec 1 posting is different.
Transfer is after end sec 1.

I think you mean appeal, not transfer.

Realized that since only limited schools offer Tamil (Mother Tongue) in the school premises, there is high demand for these schools among Indian PR and Foreigners. This is one of reasons my daughter is this predicament.

My daughter is also devastated that this allocated school does not have her favorite CCA - Choir.

To mumof8,
Transfer refers to when student is already admitted and studying in the sch.
Transfer from moe to moe sch is more likely, straightforward. Can try after end of sec 1. But no guarantee. For ip sch, heard that it is not possible.

It’s really disheartening for our children who are affected by this great jump in cut-off points. I have a feeling too that those with higher cut-off points chose to go to those mid-range neighbourhood schools thus the increased cut-off. The whole ‘big fish in small pond’ and ‘all schools are good schools’ are slowly taking place if this continues on as a trend. Good luck to those who are appealing for their school of choice, with the upcoming festivities and year end holidays, I guess results will only be out after the first week of school or so.
