We are in similar situation for my daughter, the COP assigned is 44 points below her T score. Just keep trying. Suggest you email MOE and follow up with a call. Wishing you all the best.

To state the obvious: the rate of success will depend on the number of people transferring out of your desired school. If no one wants to transfer out, there will be no vacancy, therefore zero %. If one person manages to transfer out, 100 people want to get it, you stand a 1% chance.

To improve your rate of success, you will probably have to look at less popular schools and work from there. Transfer is dependent on the school and out of MOE control.

The list of schools that you have picked had a COP (last year) of between 231 and 235 (extremely narrow range of 5 points) for a current t-score of 234. Furthermore, 4 out of 6 schools have affiliated primary schools which can severely limit the number of vacancies for non-affiliates. The selection is extremely challenging even in a “normal” environment (where COP changes within 3 points are fairly regular and to be expected). Guess your best option is to look for less popular schools in the 220 range to maximize your chances in getting a transfer.

My kid took PSLE this year. It's true that many are affected by posting results this year.

Hearsay, one girl didn't even turn up for the orientation that day. In the end, the family has decided to send her to Int school instead.

Don't bother seeking for opinions here, just go and submit the appeal!! Got appeal got chance, no appeal no chance and I suspect there will be a big Musical Chair happening soon, so your kid's chance of success in appealing should be more than 1% lah. Appeal to a few schools concurrently?Being posted to a school with a gap of 40-44 points is very wide.

My mum used to tell me a Chinese story when I was a child. It's 孟母三迁

Mencius's mother took the trouble to uproot their family, relocated 3 times before the mother finally found a house nearby and a school that had a good influence on her son. The boy later grew up to be one of the greatest philosophers. Good luck with your appeal.

IMHO there won’t be a big musical chair happening at all. Thus, it may be better to be realistic and accept that the chances of appeal succeeding is very small.

The most important rule that prevent the musical chair from happening is MOE directive that rejects appeal above COP. Given that acceptance can only take place if a place is vacant, it follows that someone who is accepted into a school with high COP has to transfer to a school with lower or same COP. I just don’t see that happening this year given that the most in demand schools in the 220 to 240 range have gone up.

Don’t lose hope! If you don’t try/appeal, you won’t have a chance to begin with... it’s alright to hold a small light of hope, rather than not try for fear of being disappointed again. But, tell your child to be positive abt it even if the appeal doesn’t go thru.

To parents whose kids got 232-234 range and was “edged out” of your 6 choices... continue trying, even from schools not in your list. Try missions school with cop of 220-228

My girl was posted to 6th choice n we successfully appealed. So, this is possible because someone in that school transfered out , leaving an empty space for us... we in turn opened a space in our posted school... n so on.

We wouldn’t have this chance, if we didn’t decide to appeal in the first place.

Appeal (i.e. this year?) or transfer? (after attending school?)
Successfully got into one of the 5 other choices or out of the selection?
