I'm not very sure about the schools , but you can actually go to the schools and take a look at the environment . Open house may be over , but most schools would still allow you and your dd to go in and have a look.
I would recommend you to have a look at the school and maybe ask the students there about how they feel about the school. It is best to go soon as most students still in school during the holidays would be there for their cca which should be having their holiday break quite soon .
You can still chat with the teachers and maybe get to know more about their results and what they focus on .
Missed a lot of open houses during dd2's time . Did the same thing too .
Manjusri has quite a new campus , and is more on Buddhism . Most people there would be mainly from maha bodhi and mee toh .
I am not that sure about East spring . I do know that their campus may not be as new as manjusri and bedok green.
Bedok green looks quite new to me too . Students there are quite ok.
This is what I vaguely know and I may be wrong for some parts , so I urge you to take a look at the schools and maybe take into consideration the travel time etc .
Good luck!

My DD got 234 and both YTSS & CCYS cop is 236 last year so do you think I should pick these 2 as 1st and 2nd choice and follow by Presbyeterian High (233) as 3rd choice or rather only pick one of YTSS or CCYS as 1st choice, PHS as 2nd choice and 3rd choice again YTSS or CCYS to play safe that she will secure a place in PHS.

By the way, I saw that the no. of candidates are lesser than 2013 so does it mean that most of the time due to lesser candidates for that year the cop will usually drop abit ?

Kindly advise as we will be submitting by tomorrow.

In the last few years the student mix for Mansjusri has been changing. While affiliated schools parents historically think that Mansjusri should be the last resort for affiliated kids, we do see more affiliated students choosing Mansjusri And some even has tscore of 23x range.

Due to that there are more students from Maha Bodhi and Mee Toh. Personally if my dc did anything below 225, my choice would be Mansjusri as I feel comfortable that those schoolmates they had from pri school should not be too bad of a influence.

From what I heard the current principal was from njc.

hi! just to clarify, i'm not from scgs primary (clarification for the user above commenting on affiliation) so i can safely say that it doesnt really matter if you are from scgps or not, when you come to scgs you will be on the same fair level, working your way up from the secondary one level as a cohort!
i do agree to a certain extent that affiliation is not beneficial or fair to some students (technically, me included) but i know that full schools have long histories and it is hard to suddenly stop the system. the primary and secondary side are 'sister streams' that are seen as a big SC family here! and we have many combined events as well.
i guess its just tough luck for those who aren't from affiliated schools like me, but that just motivates us to work hard more if we want to get into a higher academic school right? :)

Placement is by merit. So it is fine to put 1st/2nd choice cchy or ytss and then phs as 3rd choice. As long phs still had vacancy at score 234 when is her turn, she will get it even if you put it 6th choice. You can find more information on the big fat secondary school booklet first few pages on this allocation.

Help - sequence of choices

Hi, I need help on the sequence of choices. My son will be in NA and we are staying at CCK.

1) Evergreen in Woodlands (180-199), Ave 185, band 5
2) WestSpring in Bukit Panjang (170 - 199), Ave 184, no data
3) Kranji (179 - 198), Ave 185, band 2
4) Unity (172 - 198) Ave 184, band 4
5) Bukit Batok (164 - 195), Ave 180, band 2
6) Clementi Town (163 - 196) Ave 181, band 4

Current choosing sec sch booklet does not specify 'O' level L1R5 sch banding but based on 5 yrs ago booklet, it has above mentioned banding.

5 yrs ago I read that Kranji had good teachers. That's why band 2. I don't know if this sch is still as good. It is 10 min walking distance, no shelter, no bus.

Why I put Evergreen first choice is because it was my elder child's ex-sch. Books & T-shirts can be re-used.

Westspring's students are very well behaved. I like my son to be developed as such.

Thank you

RGS vs Cedar

Hi

Both are favourite girl schools. Besides distance, what are the other factors to consider if the choice is between RGS & Cedar ?

Chung Cheng (Yishun & main) are affiliated to NYJC.
NYJC cop is 8.
Affiliation point (-2) is crucial.
