Sec 1 cutoff point in SIS - does it include HCL point?

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

Sec 1 cutoff point in SIS - does it include HCL point?

Postby mwchua » Thu Mar 26, 2015 5:00 pm

Apologies if this question has been asked before.

For official COP of various secondary schools found in School Information Service website, does it include the HCL points?

For example, for 2015 admission to Sec 1 O-level at St Nicks, the COP is 245, any idea if this includes HCL points?

My guess is it should be the T-score before HCL points, but would like to seek advice from experienced parents here. Thanks.

For SAP schools (e.g. HCI, SNGS, NYGH) the T-score used for admission would include HCL if you took it. Eg, if the COP is 256, you can get 256, with no HCL, or 254 + 2 (with merit in HCL).

For schools like SCGS, Cedar etc, the score does not include HCL as you cannot include HCL in your T-score for application to non-SAP schools. So 257 for these schools really means 257 - the T-score from 4 main subjects, without HCL. the HCL points cannot be used for admission to non-SAP schools.
