My DD same range as yours. Yes, many many humble brags here. Let them be.

Which schools you are aiming? Would like to know your views too.

Hi, my girl is taking PSLE next year so we still have a bit of time. Her results is just like roller coaster ride so my thought is if she can secure a school through DSA (using performing arts), it will reduce the actual exam stress.

No matter how hard she studies, her results will never reach the 90 range, even with tuition. Although I myself like IP and hope my children can do IP, I need to be realistic.

Therefore, I am looking at schools around 230-245 which I feel will be more suitable for her. No particular school in mind yet that's why I hope to hear from experienced parents.
Our schools of this range are much more wider. Unless there is specific school that you desire in terms of performing arts as you mentioned for example. I quite familiar in the West side, and is considering Nan Hua or Bukit Panjang High and Swiss Cottage. May or may not take DSA because our range has much more choices. And who knows, our DD actual PSLE may shoot up to 255 range? I think surplus of not exceeding 10 marks is possible for our range, which can qualify for even IP schools.

Parents pls.... Don't get distracted by what others said. Some are genuine and some have hidden agenda so as to scare others not to DSA.

Pls.... For the benefit of other kids. They are just kids who want a foot hold in that particular school.

Go ahead to DSA. Don't care what others said. If the school(s) offer you. Just take based on your choice. Your decision is your decision. You know your child. You know the environment. Some wants to be a big fish in small pond. Some like to be a small fish in big pond. Whatever suits you. Just go. Ignore what others said.

My niece is studying in Swiss Cottage and she is doing ok (most subjects above 70s) without any tuition. She was aiming for Bukit Panjang High but fails to meet the COP. But seems like she is settling well in Swiss Cottage. Another niece studies at Kranji. So far, seems to be also coping.

For north and east side, can consider Nan Chiau
and Anderson.

Those Schools with COP of 240 to 245 tends to be the popular choice for DSA in which they are the top in O level track. In fact, some IS (Independent Schools) O level track performance lost out to those COP 240-245 schools. A few of the COP 245 or close to 245 schools I could think of as follow:

ANDERSON SECONDARY SCHOOL
BUKIT PANJANG GOVT. HIGH SCHOOL
CHIJ SECONDARY (TOA PAYOH)
CHUNG CHENG HIGH SCHOOL (MAIN)
CRESCENT GIRLS' SCHOOL
NAN CHIAU HIGH SCHOOL
NAN HUA HIGH SCHOOL
ST. MARGARET'S SECONDARY SCHOOL

But to each its own.
I just don't feel any party to the DSA is being taken advantage of. (If school is leaving them to their own devices after taking them in, then that's another thing). Both are willing parties.
I agreed with you it would be better for kids to go O Level so that there an option to go Polytechnic. Personally had seen some IP students struggle from Sec 1 to JC1. Came a batch of COP O Pts from O level in the class (Assuming all these scored 6A1)
Doing DSA is just like buying Toto or 4D.

Learn a lot though, besides humble brags, there are really many analytical posts that cover DSA for newbies. I didn't know about dual tracks and on demand O levels classes, which some try to hush hush about. I find "in case fall sick or hiccups during PSLE" reason a bit far off though. There is always prelim results as backup.

You can also use your IP results to apply for poly. Check out Direct Admission Exercise (DAE) on any poly website.

 I think most of the sharings have good intentions, but some really make me feel like the child has 三头六臂..and need to be of this calibre to balance everything nicely then is considered good calibre enough to DSA, cope with IP etc etc..if the child only spend time studying and get good results, also may not be able to cope with IP because got CCA, projects etc etc..

I just hope that more useful informations are shared among parents and not using this platform to boast how talented is your child. If he/she is so talented or very very good in the studies then one can just rely on PSLE T-score to get in.
