DSA 2019

Unlike entry to Primary Schools, admission into Secondary Schools is based on meritocracy. PSLE results are used as key admission criteria. Discuss everything related to PSLE and selection of Secondary Schools here.

Hi All, congrad to all parents who have already got confirm CO. For those who are still going through the interviews just wanted to give a heads up to DD that are interviewing for SAP schools. My DD went to interview at DHS for sport and was asked to do the interview in Mandarin which caught her off guard. Unfortunately, she was only able to converse 50% of the interview in Mandarin but we were proud that she persisted instead of freezing up .. :)
wow seriously???? is it a usual practice for chinese interviews in DHS or just an out of the box spanner that the interviewer throws out to test ur child's reaction?
Yes, Dino.

Dunman High interview for DSA both Western instrument and Chinese music section, were conducted in Mandarin. I shared this at DHS website

https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/foru ... start=3990

My friend's child is a Singapore citizen. Luckily, child could converse in Mandarin fluently. On that day for music interview, other candidates were very nervous. One interviewee asked politely, if others can go first, before his (her) turn, because he (she) was so nervous, wasn't ready. He (she) was still flipping through and reading his (her) interview notes. Since is music domain DSA, a female lady maestro was amongst the panel of interviewers.

Come to think of it, how about the other way round ?
Not sure if interviewers at DHS interview candidate in English, ie. the other way round instead, if the DSA applicant (interviewee) happen to be a foreigner, from China, just to test and assess their level of proficiency in English Oral conversation ?

Timmy21, maybe can just call RGS GO to find out. Could be a sports CO which might be released earlier?
She applied for english / maths domain, so cannot be sports CO.
Can I clarify if you had meant that your DD had received rejection letters from RGS after the selection test in EL and Math?

I think kids are very excited and some thinks going to interview is already a CO la.. so cant blame them , they are very excited just to be shortlisted for test and interview, our class and school everybody says they got CO when they only get called for interview. The only IP school that release results is NUSH and those written here.

sorry for causing confusion. my DD applied to RGS for visual art, her classmate applied to RGS for leadership, and both received rejection emails. it's my DD's tuition classmate who applied for English and Math (not sure which of this did she go for 2nd round) at RGS, n she claimed tat she already got a CO.

Did your DD's classmate who went for DSA leadership even manage to go for the 1st interview round? Cos my friend's DD went for 1st interview but no update ever since.
