I am curious if anyone here is using this or equivalent. Is it useful or effective? Or just a gimmick?

I've always been intrigued by this thing. But my own experience with handheld rechargeable vacuum cleaners have been less than disappointing. If they are effective in actually vacuuming, they last at most 15mins. Otherwise, it's like mowing the lawn => shave off the top of the head of the dust particles and leave everything behind. And if you overcharge the batteries, they die quickly giving you less than a minute of vacuum time.

Given that the iRobot and derivatives are battery operated, I'm not sure if they are up to the task even if they function perfectly as robots :|

We have the iRobot and have to say we're rather pleased with it. And the best part is it really cleans. But this is not for those who are used to quickly sweeping and moving on as it takes about 50mins to an hour to complete a standard HDB hall. When it's done, it'll go back to the homebase to re-charge itself. So for us, we set the timer and let it clean while we're at work. Now we're thinking of getting the Scooba :D

Hi, what is the electricity consumption of the iRobot? To be more specific, does it use up all its energy after every sweep of say a standard 4/5 room flat?

How much does it cost?

I don't see any significant increase in my bills, I think my fish-tank lights consume more
It won't be able to clean the entire house on one charge, needs one more charge in order to do the rooms.
We bought ours direct from US, plus Vpost shipping came up to be around $600 + $40 stepdown transformer (from DIY store). I saw Courts selling at $960+.

Hi mincy, mine's the 560, i tink the 560 has a better battery life and the virtual wall incorporates the lighthouse function to help guide the irobot back to homebase if going across mulitple rooms.

I've been interested in buying one for a long time, and am prepared to do it now... would really appreciate if I can get more info from owners! Besides Courts, are there any other vendors/sellers in Singapore?

Is maintenance, support, spare parts, replacement parts an issue?
