contract due

With most families being dual-income-with-kids, outsourcing home cleaning and home economics to domestic helpers is almost a way of life for Singaporeans. Come in and discuss issues pertaining to maids and home management.

Hi, can i check usually do you give 'advance' notice to your maid if you do not want to renew her contract after 2 years? How many months in advance do you think we should give them? Does it matter whether it's indonesian or philiipo? i mean, does it make any difference?

After two years, both parties will expect some kind of talk on the contract, whether either party wants to renew or not. 1 mth in advance is fair.

Irregardless her racial, mostly depend on the circumstances and your own reason.

1) If there is a valid reason and we have no choice not to renew her contract then I will inform her a few month in advance.

2) If the reason is because her performance is lousy and we intend to employ a new maid then I will give her an hr notice. Eg. Airline check in time is 12.00pm then I will only inform her at 10.30am and she must finish packing by 11.30am.

From my past experience, once I break the news to our helper they will start to have the ORD mood. It still depend on you.

delaying her packing is a minor thing. i am just afraid she might run away at the airport or make a complaint against the employer at the customs especially if she is determined to stay in singapore or a cunning one.

According to my helper, MOM had briefed them that once Employer had cancelled their WP they are not suppose to stay in Singapore and even their own embassy cannot interfere.

Even if they create a scene at the airport, the police will be there to escort them into the transit.

but if they complain of abuse, they will have the right to stay regardless of the cancellation of wp. that's when the nightmare for employers begin.

most maids would just go home quietly because they know what :!: things we would find in their rooms.

but most maids i have known are nice.

But there have been cases where the maid created a scene at the airport and lodged a complaint against the employer. They have to keep her here to investigate the complaint.

:!: :!: I can only say this type of maid are super childish. So what if they lodge a complain, doesn't mean they can stay in SG forever.
