I am planning to pay for my new Fili maid's phone card till her salary reduction is completed. i have been told the smart pinoy card is one of the better value ones for them.

what is a reasonable amt to give her for per month of usage? for her to call family, say abt 2 to 3 times per week?

Hi for new maid, I usually let them call home when they reach my home, so that their family will know that they have reached their employer's place safely. Subsequently I will give them an official handphone which they are supposed to bring when they leave the house for errands so that they remain contactable.I will top up the card every 6 months or earlier if no more value, to ensure its validity.
If they want to call their family to chit chat, then they will have to buy the call back card with their own money, but they can use my home line to call using the call back card.

Sorry moom, I don't know cos my maid will usually find out from other maids which one is best.
Also my maid is from Indonesia, so the rate for the card she uses may be different for the calls to the Phillipines.

I jus got a new maid from Indonesian. Went to 7 eleven they only hav the starhub calling card for hp.
Currently I'm letting my maid use my scape acct to call back.

Hi ni, my indon maid said she uses "hello" call back card from singtel and it offers a good rate - $10 for 1 hour 48 min.

Forgot to ask her where she got the card, but I have seen some stalls outside the shop stalls selling it.

She will then use my phone but dial the pin number on the call back card to call her home and the amount gets deducted from it.
It is much cheaper than using the handphone.

My maid use Hello card to call back. $7 for 1hour. She will use 1 card each month.

I use to pay for maid phone usage. But when I took back the entitlement, she was really mad. Since then, I don't pay for the maid anymore. I ask them to get the card themselves.

I usually let my new maids call back after they reach my place - agent actually discourage me from so doing becos it will make them miss home more. But I rather continue becos I think their families should know they are safe.

For my first, I paid for her phone calls becos she was very thrifty and she doesn't make phone porridge even on my money. For my 2nd, she was very yakky the first time. When I bought her 1 card the first time, she used it up very fast. After that, I told her own expense, and immediately she slow down on her usage. For number 3, she's quite zi dong but also will call a lot. So what I do is she will buy her cards usually; but when she does well (ie shows right attitude etc), I will pay for some of her cards. Works well and neither of us unhappy.

i stil will not recom payg for their phone bills. creatg trouble for mysf when u hv to reduce or take it away
