Does anyone have any experience with Burmese/Myanmese Maids?
Know of or can recommend any agency ?
Can educate us on their culture?
Much appreciated.
So far I had employed 3 Myanmese Maids. 1st maid work for me 1yr, 2nd 1.5 yrs and present maid is with me for 3.5yrs.
It is really a little about luck. My 1st maid very underage and childish. Having her is just like having another children at home.
2nd maid, has a maid in Myanmmar herself, actual plan to come to work in offices, but can't find so get a maid job. Show me black faces everyday, as she think that if she work in offices she will get higher pay and lesser hours. Until today, I know she is still working as a maid in Singapore.
Present maid, very good, smart and hardworking, but leaving us soon too, because she want to further her study. I have hard time with her, because she totally don't understand English when she first come. Get people to translate to Myanmese language for her, and I release that she also can't read her own language! But she learn fast after 3 mths, I everyday sit with her for 30 mins English lesson with internet pictures. Than at least she could get what I want.
Overall, what I like about Myanmese maid is that they normally don't give you BGR problems. But as like other maids, after they finish their loan, they will start to have many friends and phone calls, workout poor, etc. I had employed Filipino maids, Indonesian maids and Myanmarese maids. My wrost maid is from Indonesian.
I am now searching for a new maid to replace my present maid since she leaving. The thought of it already give me a lot of stress. I will need to teach them at least 3-6 mths before they can do their task, but normally after 6 mths maid will start to ask to change employer, because they always believe that they can find a better emplyer. Base on the static is get from the MOM website, about 30-35% of maids will stay longer than 1 yr. And about 5-10% maids will change more than 3 empolyers within a yr.
