Helper as companions to elder parents at home

Hi,

I have a pair of elderly parents and they do not wish to have maids looking after them. Does anyone know of any lady helper keen to do part time work such as looking after the elderly and help with some housework for a few hours about 2 or 3 times a week. Each time about 3 hours. What are the charges per hour?

Thanks

I understand such services are considered as nanny services or baby sitting but in your case it would more like elderly sitting. In any case the rates should be roughly the same. I saw one ad before charging $12/hr. if you type in google for nanny services there should quite Agee for u to contact.

I was also entertaining this idea should my maid be sent off abruptly. It's good to know such contact for emergency.

I think what these elderly want is to hv their own children accompanying them instead of maids or helpers. I used to help out with my mum with my late grandfather's daily needs before he passed on. It was tiring, having to jaga between own family n grandfather, but it was all worthwhile as i rmb those days where my grandfather raised me when i was still a child. I have no regrets ither than being sad for his departure as i know i have done my part to take care if him rather than push to maid.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks so much. I will search for such services.
Yes, its can be tiring juggling work, family and elderly care without maid. Exploring the idea of full time maids, somehow if the elderly are not receptive of the idea, I think it will be difficult to begin with...

Try NTUC Eldercare - Home care services. The iCare officers may be local so should not have communication problems with the elderly. Not sure about the rates.
