You using movers? If yes, get from them.

We used the services of breakthrough (Those service that is run by ex-convict). Basically the moment they arrive, they will just start moving so we had to pack in advance. They don't provide boxes or probably we didn't ask. But reasonable fees and good service. Everything was done in 1 load.

To get the boxes, I actually asked my office auntie to keep boxes for me so I ended up with sufficient boxes by the time i moved. I accumulated for at least a month. I also get those white label stickers and label different location so that in the midst of packing, my pils can start to paste the location sticker and manually write the brief description on what's in the box. This helps the mover tremendously in getting things to places efficiently and us in unpacking.

Good luck with the move. It's a major activity packing and unpacking  The ironic thing is that after unpacking, sometimes I wonder where I kept certain stuff. This shows that for things that you are seeing it for the 1st time after many years and never use it, the general rule is to discard/ donate to salvation army if it's still good. We were lucky to have my sils' maids and my sils also came to help us to unpack as my pils are "sentimental" ppl so cannot discard old stuff. My sil was surprised to find stuff that were there even before they got married and was wondering why my pils don't throw it away.

When I moved house in few years back, I bought some boxes from a packaging company located at Toa Payoh. Is it convenient for you?

Selling in 2 sizes. 1) 20" x 20" x 20" - $3.40 per box. 2) 20" x 15" x 15" - $2.40 per box.

If you interested, I will give you the address.

hi smurf,

Just remember to bring important documents like testimonials, certificates etc BY YOURSELF. My friend lost all her educational transcripts and testimonials during one of her moves (she had packed those in a box for the movers).

You can ask for empty boxes from your friendly neighbourhood fruit stores or provision shops, certainly helps especially if u are a regular... FOC.

If you know of a photocopy shop in your neighbourhood, ask the staff there if you can have their empty boxes. I don't mean the small ones that reams of paper come in. I'm referring to the big, white(?) ones that the small boxes are put in. Since paper is quite heavy, these boxes are sturdy enough for use in moving house. I used them before and they are quite clean (you just need to wipe the box bottom and lid top before using).
